BASF has launched a new brand, Ultradur polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), which can create a more attractive brand identity on the surface of the metal lamp frame of car headlights. The new grade was developed to meet the growing demand of original equipment manufacturers to improve the opportunities for the headlamp brand.

Although Ultradur has been widely used in headlamp components, such as lampshades and brackets, the new laser transmission PBT non-enhanced Ultradur 4570 HGL LT can be laser engraved on the surface of metal lampshades. This provides a clearer, high-quality logo mark on the headlights of the car.

In particular, the new grade can help customers avoid degradation of the surface of the black lamp frame during the laser marking process. This easy-to-process material has a smooth surface finish and low fogging and mold deposits.

"BASF focuses on the trend of next-generation headlamps, combined with in-depth expertise in automotive lighting systems, to provide various Ultradur solutions for lamp rings. With the growing demand for branding of lampshade surfaces, we are helping us Of customers-Tier 1 suppliers of systems and parts-develop tailor-made solutions for end users," said Desmond Long, vice president of high-performance materials business management transportation in Asia Pacific.

There are different techniques for engraving on plastic surfaces, such as laser marking, printing, and molding. According to reports, laser marking is welcomed by customers due to its design freedom, reduced preparation or rework requirements, high processing speed and good contrast.
